COLLABORATIVE ART INVOLVEMENTS

1988-present
Edinboro Book Arts Collective (co-founder)
This is a large, collaborative group of EUP faculty, students, and community members organized to produce artist/writer book collaborations. Our first book, "Kamikaze" (text by Edinboro writer Jose Garza), was completed January 1992 in an edition of 200. Recent books include "Phantom Breast," by Diana Hume George (June 2003), and "A Ride Around Presque Isle," by Linda McWilliams (July 2004).

1993-95
Sideways Atlanta
This book is a collaboration with Atlanta historian/photographer Bill Tomey. We researched, wrote, and produced a field guide to "offbeat" Atlanta. Published in 1995, it is a 156-page text with 43 photographs by both authors. ~ can be purchased through Amazon.com & www.creativeintelligencia.com

1992-99
"FSA Re-Photographic Survey" Project
This project involves a return to sites photographed during the Farm Security Administration's Documentary Photography Projects (1935- 43). A grant from the EUP Faculty Senate allowed initial research at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and at the Photographic Archives in Louisville, KY. Sites were visited in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Additional grants from the EUP Senate and the State System allowed the work to concentrate in PA in 1995 in the steel mill towns north of Pittsburgh and coal mining towns in eastern PA. A traveling exhibition, "Looking Into the Back of the Picture: Re-Photographing the FSA in Pennsylvania" is available.

1999
Sabbatical Leave
Nine weeks of travel in the South concentrating on FSA sites in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and North Carolina.

1982-88
"Aunt Marion & Cousin Mimi" series of photo postcards (Enthusiastic Enterprises, Inc.)
In collaboration with photographer Martha Friend of Somerville, MA, we produced this series of humorous black & white photo postcards chronicling the lives and loves of two eccentric middle-aged ladies (portrayed by ourselves). The series numbered 100, and was distributed nationally by the Maine Line Company of Rockport, ME.
